The USA had dominated the field in all aspects during the final, but you guys banded together and found opportunities in the rock solid US defense. Miyama and Sawa, great goals. And Kaihori…Kaihori, that was some of the most impressive shoot-out defending I’ve seen. You definitely gained a fan in me. Your win couldn’t come at a better time, your nation deserves something to cheer about.
Congratulations to Sawa too, who after 18 years of faithfully playing with the Nadeshiko, finally gets that coveted trophy. Much love and respect from an American in Germany to Team Japan.
